Mama bought a house in a white neighborhood. Ruth is really happy about it and agrees with what Mama did. She is so excited to move to the house. Walter is really sad about this. He thinks that Mama takes his role as head of the family. Walter disagrees about the "peace" Mama and Ruth think about. Beneatha wears traditional Nigerian customs and dances with Nigerian music. Mama wants to give the house to Travis in the future. Ruth thinks that she and Walter are at the low point of their marriage. This is her African identity.
