Mother to Son
There is only one stanza in this poem. This poem is talking about a mother telling her son that life is really hard and he must work hard to solve all the bad things in his life. There are lots of "and " repeat in this poem which shows the image of how the mother describes life. The sentence "And life for me ain't been no crystal stair." repeats twice in this poem, one in the beginning and one at the end of the poem, that shows how the mother thinks life is hard. The mother is more like encouraging and warning her son, tells him that life is hard but he needs to work hard on it.
I, Too
There are 5 stanzas in this poem. The first stanza and the last stanza only have one sentence. "I, too, sing America" and "I, too, am America" shows that the speaker strongly identifies as an American. The phrase "darker brother" shows that the speaker might be an African American. The part "They send me to eat in the Kitchen" shows how the speaker got discriminated against by other people in the US. The part "I'll be at the table when company comes" shows the speaker decides to fight back and be proud of who he is.
The Red Wheelbarrow
There are four stanzas in this poem and each stanza has 2 lines. There is no punctuation in this poem. Even though the poem is really short, but it does give us an image of what is happening in this poem. The red wheelbarrow and white chickens really give us a contrast between these two things. The image is quite beautiful to the reader's minds. This poem gives readers a village view.
