Short Responses
1. What was your vision as a director/creator for this project?
I think I am Jessica of the story because I am telling the whole story from Jessica's perspective. I tell the whole thing I know about Jessica, and I have very little information about Zack.
2. What elements of the original story did you maintain in your project?
First of all, I maintained the factor that the woman wants her husband to die. Second of all, I maintained that her husband doesn't really die.
3. What did you change about the original story in your project?
I changed the most part of the original story. First of all, my story has so many modern factors, such as my characters use mobile phones. Second of all, my ending is very mysterious, I make it up to give audiences space for brainstorming. Third of all, in the original piece, the wife wants her husband die because she wants to be free, but in my story, it is because her husband cheated on her.
4. What is the twist or climax of your adaptation?
My climax is how the woman allied with her friend and the hotel staff to kill her husband, and how she makes it look like the other girl who her husband cheating with did the whole thing.
5. What is the strongest part of your project so far?
I think the strongest part of my story is how Zack starts to laugh at the end of my story. This detail makes my story much creepier and mysterious. It gives people the space to imagine what happened to Zack. When people are reading my story, they will definitely think that Zack already got killed by Coco, but the turning point at the ending part gives the audiences and readers a totally different experience.
6. What is the weakest part of your project so far?
I never really used iMovie before, this is the first time I editing video. I will try my best to do this project. Even though this is the first time I use this application, I will learn skills from it and improve myself.
7. How has this project helped you learn about how stories work?
The project helps me a lot in learning about how stories work. There are genre, characters, settings, plot, pivotal moments, climax, and resolutions need to be done in a story. A story is like a hill, the setting part is like the foot of a hill, and then things go up, then reach the climax, and then people will find out the resolutions. I really enjoy writing stories, because I really love to imagine things. This project is definitely very helpful.
8. How has this project helped you learn how theater works?
The project helps me so much in learning how theater works. I set up all the characters, and make the audiences focus on the main characters and the main storyline. My video also works pretty well to attract people's eyes to focus on my main characters. Also, my backgrounds in the video perfectly match the storyline and the characters themselves.
