Ruth got pregnant for 2 months. She paid the money to do an abortion. Mama got the settlement check from the mailman. So Walter asked Mama to invest in the liquor store he wants to start. Mama thinks that she will not give him her money. Walter blamed Mama that he is doing the right thing to get the family out of poverty but Mama can not understand his perspective. Mama thinks that Walter is not as good as his father(old Walter). In Mama's perspective, the family is more important than anything else, she doesn't want to see Ruth get the abortion. They do not have a big fight like what happened in Scene 1. Ruth is still deciding if she will do the abortion or not.
