Donna(Elena) is a Hotel owner. She has a 20 years old daughter Sophie(Audra) who will get married to Sky(Trevor). Donna’s two friends Rosie(Olivia) and Tanya(Jane) come and help her out the wedding. Sophie found Donna's diary, however, she realized that there are three men who might be her father. They are Sam(Jackson), Harry(Tony), and Bill(Nate). Sophie invited these three guys to her wedding because she wants to find out who is her real father and also she wants her real dad to walk with her during the wedding. Sophie feels confident that she can immediately recognize her dad. Donna feels so confusing after she saw those three men show up together because none of them she has seen over twenty years. Donna’s friends try to help her out. Those three men don’t know each other, they figure out what’s the reason of why they are invited. Each of them thinks that he is Sophie’s father. Sky is kind of feel exhausted about the mess. Donna gets along well with her “three fathers”. At the wedding, Sophie walks with Donna to Sky, but the wedding gets canceled by Sophie. In the end, Donna and Sam get together, Rosie and Bill get together.

I watched Mama Mia last Wednesday which was February 26th. This is the second time I watch a play in the black box. Since Mama Mia is a musical play, I had a really enjoyable experience. I really like the Santorini background, because it is easy to make audiences think about Greece. The background literally makes me feel like I am in Greece and watching all these happening in front of me. I really appreciate the Artwork stage crew people did on this play. The painting was just so iconic.

I have so many connections to the music in this play. As someone who really loves musical plays, I would like to say Mama Mia became one of my favorite music plays. I think all those actors had really good works. Elena’s voice is really impressive. Her voice made me so emotional so many times. In this play, I have many favorite songs, such as Money, Money, Money, Our Last Summer, Lay All Your Love For Me, Mama Mia, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, and Dancing Queen. All those songs really gave the connection to this play. These songs can make me part of the show. These songs are really positive and motivated songs. When you listen to them, they just simply make you feel happy. Even though the song Money, Money, Money is talking about how Donna wants money, it is still in a really joyful rhythm. That’s the reason why I love Mama Mia is that it can always bring me energy. Mama Mia is also a really good song. Elena, Olivia, and Jane did a really good job on this scene. Their voices are so stunning. I love music in this play in general.

Other than music, acting is also a reason why I love this play. I want to say that Jane was so iconic on the stage. She perfectly acted out Tanya’s personality. Tanya is a character who is really sociable and out-going. I can see how Jane put emphasis on Tanya’s characteristics through her acting. Elena is definitely the center of the whole play. She controlled her speed really well. The pace when she spoke made audiences feel really comfortable. As someone who has English as a second language, the words she was saying were really clear and easy to understand. I can see how she worked so hard for this character.

All in all, I want to say that this Mama Mia play was definitely a really successful play. I admire all people who put effort into this play.
